Hidden Fastener, also referred to as "Concealed Fastener" or "Standing Seam,” have no exposed screws, making them the most weathertight and maintenance-free systems. Standing seam is a good choice for commercial and high-end residential projects but require higher-skilled craftsmen and more labor costs for installation. Standing Seam panels can come as either smooth, mini-ribbed or fully striated. Striated provides the most rigid panel and resists oil canning the most. Hidden Fastener metals can be ordered in steel and aluminum, with aluminum providing excellent corrosion resistance. Available in Galvalume or a plethora of beautiful colors.
Exposed Fastener, such as 5V Crimp and Standard Rib are the timeless “Old Lowcountry” look that is most common in residential settings but is also suitable for light commercial applications. Double ribs on the panel edges create the classic 5V look and conceal an anti-siphon channel. 5V is display a flat/smooth panel appearance, while Standard Rib panels will have a striated (multi-Rib) look. 5V can be ordered in standard steel or aluminum, either Galvalume or painted finishes.
Standard Rib style, such as Gulf Rib (shown in video below), is an exposed fastener panel made popular initially by its use in agriculture applications. This panel has now gained popularity in residential and light commercial construction and is available in different gauges of steel, making it one of the most cost-efficient profiles. Also available in Galvalume and painted colors.
